If Betão Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the match, Psiu!'s goal looked a bit too open when Lenílson Palmeira came free, but Nestor Iratxo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute Febre Amarela were awarded a corner. Severino Tinoco went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Severino Tinoco almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Psiu!'s Nestor Iratxo did a great save. Fritz Wiberg kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Chico Santana hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Severino Tinoco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Psiu!'s Nestor Iratxo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Washington Lago in the 19th minute of play. The supporters of Psiu! booed when Febre Amarela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrão Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oséas Netto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Solomon Samuels, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. A collision led to Febre Amarela getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Severino Tinoco hit a great ball. Samuca Tepedino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Oséas Netto made a huge save. Oséas Netto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Samuca Tepedino in the 32nd minute. With a little luck, Febre Amarela's Oséas Netto got control of the ball when Samuca Tepedino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Betão Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Oséas Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Samuca Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Samuca Tepedino made a kick off. A collision led to Febre Amarela getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Celsinho Paiva hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Samuca Tepedino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oséas Netto was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. Samuca Tepedino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Oséas Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Betão Amaral scored 1-0 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oséas Netto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Sá in the 71st minute of play forced Febre Amarela's goalkeeper Oséas Netto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Febre Amarela's zone, Samuca Tepedino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oséas Netto came out of the goal and Samuca Tepedino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. It was a well-played corner which Laércio Sá managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After 90 played minutes Febre Amarela got a freekick which was hit by Hélio Senna. When Betão Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Psiu! fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betão Amaral couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Samuca Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Psiu!'s supporters rose to their feet, but Samuca Tepedino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oséas Netto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Febre Amarela's Celsinho Paiva got a free kick in the 94th minute. Oséas Netto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betão Amaral in the 95th minute of play. 96 minutes into the game, Betão Amaral cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Oséas Netto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
