The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, PRIMUS INC FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dedé Dante came free, but Mário Britto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dudu Pinho kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Mário Britto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Félix, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joaquim Félix got free with Mário Britto in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mário Britto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dedé Dante in the 15th minute. Dedé Dante was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dedé Dante got free with Mário Britto in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, PRIMUS INC FC's Angelo Favoretto got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Vito Fantini's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Froilan Dolcet read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Dedé Dante could shoot a difficult shot in the 34th minute, which Mário Britto however easily saved by the left post. After 41 played minutes PRIMUS INC FC got a freekick which was hit by Angelo Favoretto. In the 44th minute, Teodoro Santana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Roberto Dinamite was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Roberto Dinamite was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PRIMUS INC FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ibirama Futebol Clube the free kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joaquim Félix in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mário Britto saved PRIMUS INC FC from getting behind. Froilan Dolcet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vito Fantini in the 59th minute. After 60 played minutes PRIMUS INC FC got a freekick which was hit by Hudson de Godoi. PRIMUS INC FC made a substitution. Fabrício Mesquita replaced Angelo Favoretto. A collision led to PRIMUS INC FC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Hudson de Godoi hit a great ball. PRIMUS INC FC's Mário Britto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedé Dante in the 62nd minute of play. If Roberto Dinamite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 68th minute, Dudu Pinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mário Britto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adrianinho Cunha in the 70th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gustavo Teixeira during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ibirama Futebol Clube booed when PRIMUS INC FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 94 played minutes Ibirama Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Válbson Silva. Despite being the better team, Ibirama Futebol Clube failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
