The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 4 minutes, Irinel Crainic managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. DINAMO PLOIESTI's supporters crossed their fingers, but Irinel Crainic was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mihai Bacalu didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 6th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Mihai Bacalu made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Rareș Ficsinescu sent off a good shot on target. Mihai Bacalu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rareș Ficsinescu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 10 minute of play. After a rather tough play, DINAMO PLOIESTI's George Darabonț got a free kick in the 15th minute. After 30 played minutes, FC Steaua Pildesti's Edgar Jdeica shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mihai Bacalu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Steaua Pildesti reached it. In the 32nd minute of the match, Marius Cănănău tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mihai Bacalu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Costin Frumușanu hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Virgil Dragalina from long distance, 37 minutes into the match, got Mihai Bacalu's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Rareș Ficsinescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Mihai Bacalu made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in DINAMO PLOIESTI's zone, Marius Cănănău stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mihai Bacalu came out of the goal and Marius Cănănău tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Florin Bădiță made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Matei Enătescu during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to DINAMO PLOIESTI getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Matei Enătescu hit a great ball. After 56 minutes, Marius Cănănău mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Steaua Pildesti and the DINAMO PLOIESTI players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 56 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Marius Cănănău. 61 minutes into the match, DINAMO PLOIESTI's goal looked a bit too open when Rareș Ficsinescu came free, but Mihai Bacalu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute Rareș Ficsinescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mihai Bacalu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Răzvan Petrescu kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. After having played for 87 minutes, Gică Vulcan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
