La Cosa Nostra's attentive Fabrício Toscano managed to snatch the ball when Abílio Lobo made a throw-in in the 5th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Altino Paião kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Durval Lage. That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. Sporting Clube Patrício's Alexandrino Quintas suffered a sore thigh after 16 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 16 minutes, Laércio Vieira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Cosa Nostra and the Sporting Clube Patrício players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sporting Clube Patrício made a substitution. Durval Lage made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Altino Paião in the 93rd minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sporting Clube Patrício fully deserved thier win.
