The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcel Toolenaar got free with Folkert Roodenburg in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 16 minutes into the game, Tonny Tonnis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Thomas Smeekes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 20th minute Jonathan Thomasse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Smeekes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thomas Smeekes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tonny Tonnis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th match minute, Revenge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tonny Tonnis to maneuver through the defense. Wilco Korsma's late challenge caught a Revenge's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Weed Excelsior's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Antoon Hegeman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Antoon Hegeman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matthijs Idema hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 46 minutes into the game, when Maurits Hooiveld put in a rough tackle. After recieving a nice pass, Weed Excelsior's Henk Stroobos tried to score from far away in the 47th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Lennart de Boer received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Thomas Smeekes came out and tried to block the shot, but Lennart de Boer slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 57th minute. Weed Excelsior's Thomas Smeekes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lennart de Boer in the 66th minute of play. In the 72nd match minute, Revenge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hendrik-Jan Daamen to maneuver through the defense. A very good chance. 87 minutes into the game, Elroy Jurjens was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Weed Excelsior's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Revenge the free kick. A collision led to Weed Excelsior getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Through an outstanding action, after 90 minutes, Thomas Smeekes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 92 minutes into the match, Revenge's goal looked a bit too open when Hendrik van der Struijk came free, but Folkert Roodenburg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcel Toolenaar in the 93rd minute of play forced Revenge's goalkeeper Folkert Roodenburg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Revenge played a much better game than Weed Excelsior and deserved their victory. The Weed Excelsior players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
