The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Miguel Pereira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Carlos Lopez in the 6th minute of play. In the 16th match minute, ATHLETICO PRaiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Eduardo Lara to maneuver through the defense. Zé Carlos Lopez scored 0-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Miguel Pereira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Botafogo AP's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Antonio Gol 24 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. In the 32nd match minute, Botafogo AP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Moreno to maneuver through the defense. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The crowd rose to their feet as ATHLETICO PRaiano's Antonio Gol slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nilton dos Santos. That made the score 2-1 after 37 minutes of play. Edvaldo Cerezo's late challenge caught a ATHLETICO PRaiano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Carlos Lopez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Botafogo AP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ATHLETICO PRaiano the free kick. Nilton dos Santos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2.
