Luís Paulo Velloso was a little too slow when Claudinho Medeiros got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 13th minute. The score was now 1-0. After a rather tough play, Jacuitiba - FSCMZ's Toninho do Vale got a free kick in the 18th minute. Luís Paulo Velloso made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Ademir Batista sent off a good shot on target. 26 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Claudinho Medeiros came free, but Luís Paulo Velloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luís Paulo Velloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Medeiros in the 28th minute of play. With his leg Luís Paulo Velloso managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Jacuitiba - FSCMZ's Ademir Batista fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Walmyr Torres took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luís Paulo Velloso. Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ademir Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Luís Paulo Velloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Abel Borges kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinho Medeiros in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Paulo Velloso saved Mexilhão F. C. from getting behind. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Eduardo Sousa was the one to do the kick off. After 62 minutes of play, Jacuitiba - FSCMZ's Claudinho Medeiros made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luís Paulo Velloso was left in no man's land by his defense there! 66 minutes into the match, Claudinho Medeiros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís Paulo Velloso. Mexilhão F. C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Claudinho Medeiros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Luís Paulo Velloso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademir Batista, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. In the 72nd minute Claudinho Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Paulo Velloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Abel Borges during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 74 played minutes Mexilhão F.
