Hortêncio Fontes made in the 33rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by SRP-Laguna's Danilo Magalhães. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

After a rather tough play, SRP-Laguna's Luís Fábio Vale got a free kick in the 75th minute. The Itajaí Football Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Frédson Amorim should have stopped the shot. Danilo Magalhães blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frédson Amorim having to make a save. If Nelsinho Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Itajaí Football Club's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
