The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leoncio Abadia made a kick off. Chang Beckman's late challenge caught a Nacional Potosí's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chang Beckman helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Vancouver Reds's Chang Beckman got a free kick in the 54th minute. Nacional Potosí's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 87 minutes into the match, Nacional Potosí's goal looked a bit too open when Chang Beckman came free, but Boni Abad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute, Nacional Potosí's Leoncio Abadia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Blake Vogt. Blake Vogt yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. The Nacional Potosí supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Nacional Potosí would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
