After 35 minutes of play, Ecuador's Lorenzo Acutain made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Spase Kastrati was left in no man's land by his defense there! Macedonia's Spase Kastrati played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejandro Espina in the 38th minute of play. In the 44th minute Vidoe Gegovski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Ceberiche saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stevan Rajkovski's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stevan Rajkovski helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Macedonia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stevan Rajkovski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alejandro Espina to strike the kick off in the second half. Spase Kastrati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alejandro Espina in the 51st minute of play. In the 56th minute, Ortiz Apellaniz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Spase Kastrati made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Urko Solbeida sent off a good shot on target.
