Vitaliy Vischak made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Armando Vogrinčič sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Sobol in the 20th minute of play forced Slovenia's goalkeeper Klemen Mikuž to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Armando Vogrinčič received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. After 41 played minutes Slovenia got a freekick which was hit by Rugerij Vovk. Klemen Mikuž took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Igor Milko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th match minute, Slovenia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dagmar Zupančič to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Sobol in the 45th minute of play forced Slovenia's goalkeeper Klemen Mikuž to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Igor Milko stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Sobol in the 52nd minute of play forced Slovenia's goalkeeper Klemen Mikuž to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Armando Vogrinčič sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Armando Vogrinčič's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vitaliy Vischak read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Sobol in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Klemen Mikuž prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Klemen Mikuž showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Sobol, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After 92 minutes Slovenia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Yakiv Revut who took care of the corner kick. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
