Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Platon in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Silvino Huguet prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 17th minute of the match 1989 Blxsk got a corner. Velez Bcn SAD's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eloy Ciano ran over to the corner to take the kick. Eloy Ciano made a great header on 1989 Blxsk's corner, it was just that Velez Bcn SAD's Silvino Huguet managed to reach the ball for a save. If Carlos Platon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvino Huguet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Platon in the 24th minute of play. Carlos Platon struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Silvino Huguet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for 1989 Blxsk. In the 42nd minute, Carlos Platon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Silvino Huguet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Esteban Hitzeder in the 44th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Platon to make the kick off.
