In the 4th minute, Edgar Dubon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Patricio Lara was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Edgar Dubon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edgar Dubon in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patricio Lara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ulises Mora kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 17th minute, Mauro Salguero left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Southport fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 20 minutes into the match, Olimpia's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Cerna came free, but Patricio Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 22 minutes, Edgar Dubon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Southport's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgar Dubon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mauro Salguero might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patricio Lara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mauro Salguero ran back to his position shaking his head. Ulises Mora kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Olimpia's Patricio Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Salguero in the 30th minute of play. Leopoldo Uranga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edwin Bautista having to interfere. Mauro Salguero recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Edgar Dubon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st match minute, Olimpia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulises Mora to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the game, Edgar Dubon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Patricio Lara was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Omar Navas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Southport's Edwin Bautista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaac Rodriguez in the 51st minute of play. Francisco Cerna hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. If Isaac Rodriguez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Francisco Cerna charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francisco Cerna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Southport's Francisco Cerna got a free kick in the 56th minute. Mauro Salguero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 66 minutes, Camilo Meza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Southport and the Olimpia players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Olimpia players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
