In the 11th minute Emiliano Rey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgardo Murgas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emiliano Rey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgardo Murgas having to interfere. Leopoldo Rivera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Misael Ocampo in the 16th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Emiliano Rey ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edgardo Murgas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 24 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goalkeeper Leopoldo Rivera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgar Flores. Eraldo Salguero took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 36th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Leopoldo Rivera. Manchester United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Felipe Cetino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Edgardo Murgas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edgardo Murgas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emiliano Rey in the 41st minute of play. Felipe Cetino kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emiliano Rey made a kick off. Ivan Martinez tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Edgardo Murgas. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-2 in the 52nd minute. Edgar Flores fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Rivera having to interfere. After 63 minutes, Jose Navas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wem and the Manchester United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 63 played minutes Wem got a freekick which was hit by Jose Navas. In the 73rd minute, Benjamín Cruz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edgar Flores sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 75th minute of the match Eraldo Salguero sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leopoldo Rivera skillfully saved the ball. Emiliano Rey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgardo Murgas having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felipe Cetino got free with Edgardo Murgas in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Wem getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Eraldo Salguero hit a great ball. In the 84th minute Edgar Flores shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leopoldo Rivera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgar Flores recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Wem's Eraldo Salguero got a free kick in the 89th minute.
