Gilberto Del Cid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Ulises Arango tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Darlington's Eliseo Galdamez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Medrano in the 8th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, Ponteland's Gilberto Bonilla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The referee ignored Ponteland's protests and gave Fabio Guerra a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Darlington booed when Ponteland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabio Guerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Ponteland's goal looked a bit too open when Gilberto Del Cid came free, but Ulises Arango reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 25 played minutes Ponteland got a freekick which was hit by Paolo Alvarenga. Ulises Arango made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Lorenzo Quintanilla sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victor Medrano in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eliseo Galdamez saved Darlington from getting behind. Cesar Ribeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Ponteland's Victor Medrano got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eliseo Galdamez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilberto Bonilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Ulises Arango took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilberto Del Cid, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lorenzo Quintanilla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the match clock showed 59 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Victor Medrano sped through Darlington's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Eliseo Galdamez. The supporters of Darlington booed when Ponteland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabio Guerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th minute, Gilberto Bonilla made a precise shot to the right of Eliseo Galdamez. Darlington's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Ulises Arango showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lorenzo Quintanilla in the 79th minute of the match. Gilberto Bonilla's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eliseo Galdamez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. If Gilberto Bonilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rd minute Gilberto Del Cid shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulises Arango saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Darlington's Lorenzo Quintanilla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ulises Arango narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ponteland's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
