Seating: 1802, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Alonso Bentos took the kick off in the first half of the match. Marcelo Quijada made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Odir Talia sent off a good shot on target. After 12 played minutes Huddersfield got a freekick which was hit by Wilber Ramirez. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Roberto Canales managed to get in a good position for a shot. Birmingham's supporters rose to their feet, but Roberto Canales was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Quijada breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roberto Canales received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Marcelo Quijada tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Abraham Braun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alonso Bentos, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Huddersfield were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Birmingham's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Raúl Alvarenga took the corner. Raúl Alvarenga made a great header on Huddersfield's corner, it was just that Birmingham's Abraham Braun managed to reach the ball for a save. 25 minutes into the match, Huddersfield's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Pedrozo came free, but Marcelo Quijada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Odir Talia got free with Marcelo Quijada in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Roberto Canales might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcelo Quijada. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roberto Canales ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 37th minute, Mariano Villanueva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Roberto Canales sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Avilio Lozano fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Huddersfield's protests and gave Avilio Lozano a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Birmingham booed when Huddersfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Avilio Lozano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Avilio Lozano kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. 48 minutes into the match, Birmingham's Jhonnatan Mendez broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The wind increased when Roberto Canales made the kick off in the second half. Alonso Bentos was extremely unlucky when he, in the 60th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Marcelo Quijada came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Birmingham's Roberto Canales. But to his dismay, Roberto Canales quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Marcelo Quijada showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Canales in the 67th minute of the match. After 68 minutes, Yasir Velis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Huddersfield and the Birmingham players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Birmingham booed when Huddersfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yasir Velis didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Odir Talia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute, Odir Talia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Roberto Canales had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelo Quijada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roberto Canales in the 85th minute of play. In the 86th match minute, Huddersfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Avilio Lozano to maneuver through the defense. Birmingham's Odir Talia got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcelo Quijada stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roberto Canales's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute.
