El Quetzal F.C's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Raúl Flamenco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Efrain Osorio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Saul Mayen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edwin Ancheta having to interfere. 31 minutes into the game, Nottingham's Manuel Coria nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edwin Ancheta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. After a rather tough play, Nottingham's Patricio Lara got a free kick in the 37th minute. 38 minutes into the match, Nottingham's Efrain Osorio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edwin Ancheta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Manuel Coria's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edwin Ancheta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Nottingham's Manuel Coria got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Efrain Osorio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Efrain Osorio in the 48th minute of play forced El Quetzal F.C's goalkeeper Edwin Ancheta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The El Quetzal F.C players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Nottingham were winning 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manuel Coria stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes of play Nottingham's Patricio Lara was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 54 played minutes Nottingham got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Lara. If Shawn Palma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd match minute, El Quetzal F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efrain Cruz to maneuver through the defense. 65 minutes into the match, El Quetzal F.C's goalkeeper Edwin Ancheta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Efrain Osorio. Shawn Palma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Januario Toledano came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the El Quetzal F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Januario Toledano couldn't finish the play. Saul Mayen charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Saul Mayen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Nottingham's Saul Mayen got a free kick in the 70th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Efrain Osorio got free with Edwin Ancheta in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When El Quetzal F.C's Shawn Palma in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. But to his dismay, Manuel Coria quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. If Januario Toledano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Januario Toledano came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the El Quetzal F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Januario Toledano couldn't finish the play. During the 90th minute of the match Saul Mayen completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Saul Mayen a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Saul Mayen kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Nottingham played a much better game than El Quetzal F.C and deserved their victory. The El Quetzal F.C players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
