The audience thought a goal was coming when Angel Alvarenga got free with Baldomero Oskarbi in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Baldomero Oskarbi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zico Zellier got free with Baldomero Oskarbi in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th minute, Fabio Huezo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 22 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimiro Kiliz came free, but Nery Pumpido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by GuateFortín's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ivan Isaia was slow to take the kick. During this time Nenushko FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Nenushko FC's José Basualto getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 29th minute of the match Nenushko FC got a corner. GuateFortín's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ivan Isaia ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ivan Isaia made a great header on Nenushko FC's corner, it was just that GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido managed to reach the ball for a save. A collision led to Nenushko FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Petru Ruşdea hit a great ball. In the 35th minute Isaac Rivas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nery Pumpido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimiro Kiliz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sven-Edvin Jansson to make the kick off. Nery Pumpido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isaac Rivas in the 98th minute of the match.
