Nery Murillo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romulo Hurtado in the 56th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Ulloa couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the AD Talamanca defense, Ricardo Ulloa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Otilio Coronado. The AD Talamanca fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Otilio Coronado should have stopped the shot. Ricardo Ulloa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Otilio Coronado made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Gimnastica Española's zone, Romulo Hurtado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nery Murillo came out of the goal and Romulo Hurtado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Cesar Carazo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnastica Española's supporters rose to their feet, but Cesar Carazo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Otilio Coronado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Gimnastica Española walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
