A collision led to Limon FC getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Wilmer Loria hit a great ball. Reinaldo Gamboa made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Salomon Obando sent off a good shot on target. Reinaldo Gamboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baltazar Loria in the 9th minute of the match. In the 11th minute, Salomon Obando ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reinaldo Gamboa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Salomon Obando came free with the goalkeeper in the 15th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Reinaldo Gamboa could save by the left post. Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugo Guerrero in the 19th minute of play. Mauricio Soto's late challenge caught a Rio Cuarto FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mauricio Soto helped the player get up and apologised. Mauricio Soto kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anselmo Sancho in the 20th minute of play. Nery Padilla hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. 23 minutes into the match, Hugo Guerrero dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Reinaldo Gamboa, 2-0. In the 30th match minute, Limon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardo Carazo to maneuver through the defense. Leonel Blen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saul Gaitan, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Reinaldo Gamboa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Anselmo Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-0 in the 39 minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Rosabal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frank Rosabal got free with Leonel Blen in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Limon FC defense, Anselmo Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reinaldo Gamboa. The Limon FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reinaldo Gamboa should have stopped the shot. Reinaldo Gamboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anselmo Sancho in the 60th minute of the match. The Rio Cuarto FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-0. After 75 played minutes Limon FC got a freekick which was hit by Raul Arguedas. The supporters of Rio Cuarto FC booed when Limon FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willy Peña didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see Rio Cuarto FC's Salomon Obando in action when he in the 80th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Reinaldo Gamboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anselmo Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 86 minutes into the match, Limon FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Sancho came free, but Reinaldo Gamboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 87 played minutes Limon FC got a freekick which was hit by Mauricio Soto. Salomon Obando struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Reinaldo Gamboa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rio Cuarto FC. In the 91st minute Anselmo Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reinaldo Gamboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hugo Guerrero recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 95 played minutes Limon FC got a freekick which was hit by Willy Peña. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Rio Cuarto FC fully deserved thier win.
