In the 3rd minute, Diablos Rojos's Alexander Medina ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Reinaldo Gamboa. Reinaldo Gamboa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Berny Sancho in the 6th minute of play. After 9 played minutes Alexander Medina rounded Limon FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. Buenaventura Fuentes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Reinaldo Gamboa made a huge save. Asdrubal Lehman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Reinaldo Gamboa having to make a save. Reinaldo Gamboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Asdrubal Lehman, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 22nd minute of the match Diablos Rojos got a corner. Limon FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Asdrubal Lehman ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a little luck, Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa got control of the ball when Buenaventura Fuentes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Reinaldo Gamboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexander Medina in the 27th minute of the match. Limon FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Asdrubal Lehman scored to the left of an out of position Reinaldo Gamboa, making the score, 4-0. Reinaldo Gamboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexander Medina in the 36th minute of play. With a little luck, Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa got control of the ball when Asdrubal Lehman tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, Limon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Rosabal to maneuver through the defense. After 46 played minutes Limon FC got a freekick which was hit by Mauricio Soto. Limon FC's Reinaldo Gamboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexander Medina in the 47th minute of play. Alexander Medina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Reinaldo Gamboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frank Rosabal made a kick off. Adalberto Valverde hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Asdrubal Sanchez charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Asdrubal Sanchez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Limon FC booed when Diablos Rojos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Asdrubal Sanchez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bennie Picado acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 55th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Frank Rosabal. Bennie Picado made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Frank Rosabal sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Limon FC getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Mauricio Soto hit a great ball. 70 minutes into the match, Frank Rosabal notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Diablos Rojos's Bennie Picado. Bennie Picado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Limon FC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Saul Gaitan hit a great ball. Reinaldo Gamboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander Medina, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Buenaventura Fuentes took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reinaldo Gamboa. Reinaldo Gamboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. Reinaldo Gamboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Buenaventura Fuentes, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Diablos Rojos's Bennie Picado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauricio Soto in the 88th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexander Medina in the 89th minute of play forced Limon FC's goalkeeper Reinaldo Gamboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Berny Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Reinaldo Gamboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Alexander Medina had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reinaldo Gamboa. Limon FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alexander Medina was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-1. Diablos Rojos's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
