The audience thought a goal was coming when Valentin Palma got free with Nicolas Chamberlain in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 10 minutes into the match, Sport Herediano Frances's goal looked a bit too open when Josue Rohrmoser came free, but Antonio Merino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Antonio Merino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Minor Pineda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Antonio Merino was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 32 minutes, Herberto Contreras mouthed his way into the referee's book. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
