Spectators: 9186 (Terracing: 6891, Seating: 2112, VIP seats: 183) Alexander Medina started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Diablos Rojos's Bennie Picado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vicente Ruiz in the 7th minute of play. Asdrubal Lehman, 10 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Teobald Podwojski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Bennie Picado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Sport Herediano Frances's Antonio Merino got control of the ball when Buenaventura Fuentes tried to sneak it across the goal line. 22 minutes in the game Hugo Perez did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Buenaventura Fuentes. Berny Sancho hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Bennie Picado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teobald Podwojski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th match minute, Sport Herediano Frances was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Otilio Carballo to maneuver through the defense. Sport Herediano Frances's defense didn't have a chance, in the 29th minute, when Buenaventura Fuentes scored to the left of an out of position Antonio Merino, making the score, 1-0. After 32 played minutes Sport Herediano Frances got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Lobo. Bennie Picado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teobald Podwojski in the 38th minute of play. Asdrubal Lehman kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Alvaro Carrillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bennie Picado came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Herediano Frances's Teobald Podwojski. But to his dismay, Teobald Podwojski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Teobald Podwojski to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Sport Herediano Frances's goal looked a bit too open when Buenaventura Fuentes came free, but Antonio Merino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, Diablos Rojos's goal looked a bit too open when Teobald Podwojski came free, but Bennie Picado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Diablos Rojos getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Berny Sancho hit a great ball. Teobald Podwojski in the 60thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Bennie Picado, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teobald Podwojski got free with Bennie Picado in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Sport Herediano Frances defense, Buenaventura Fuentes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Antonio Merino. The Sport Herediano Frances fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Antonio Merino should have stopped the shot. When Wilbert Chinchilla fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Herediano Frances's protests and gave Wilbert Chinchilla a yellow card for diving instead. When Fabio Rivas came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Sport Herediano Frances fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabio Rivas couldn't finish the play. Bennie Picado was out of position in the 81 minute of play, and Teobald Podwojski capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Teobald Podwojski really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. 84 minutes into the match, Diablos Rojos's goalkeeper Bennie Picado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teobald Podwojski. Alexander Medina scored 4-2 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Antonio Merino, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 95 minutes into the match, Berny Sancho notched a goal, 5-2, to the right of Sport Herediano Frances's Antonio Merino. Antonio Merino was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the referee blew the final whistle, Diablos Rojos could leave the field as winners, despite Sport Herediano Frances having more of the ball for most of the match.
