An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilson Velloso in the 12th minute of play forced CHILAPITO FC's goalkeeper Bernad Mazo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to CHILAPITO FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Sein Albertos hit a great ball. Ephraim Münstermann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernad Mazo having to interfere. Bernad Mazo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilson Velloso in the 44th minute of play. In the 46th minute Txilar Palenzuela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bieito Villarreal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tebaldo Preciado's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 47thth minute, Bieito Villarreal skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After the first half C.D. Nacional do Madeira were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ephraim Münstermann to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in CHILAPITO FC's zone, Ephraim Münstermann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernad Mazo came out of the goal and Ephraim Münstermann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bernad Mazo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dag Ambjörnsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. CHILAPITO FC's Bernad Mazo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save CHILAPITO FC from getting a goal against them. CHILAPITO FC's Bernad Mazo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dag Ambjörnsson in the 58th minute of play. Bernad Mazo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ephraim Münstermann in the 59th minute. Gilson Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 67th match minute, C.D. Nacional do Madeira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Demario Gox to maneuver through the defense. 70 minutes into the match, Txilar Palenzuela had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bieito Villarreal. C.D. Nacional do Madeira's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Txilar Palenzuela was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Nacional do Madeira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dag Ambjörnsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nacional do Madeira fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bieito Villarreal should have stopped the shot.
