The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With his leg Richie Hordoñez managed to avoid a goal in the 3rdth minute, when Alianza Atletico Sullana's Olayo Ustoa fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Olayo Ustoa came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Alianza Atletico Sullana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olayo Ustoa couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Tongo booed when Alianza Atletico Sullana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tino Villavedon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ibon Adrian's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Richie Hordoñez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. In the 41st minute Ibon Adrian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richie Hordoñez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alianza Atletico Sullana's Joselito Cieza got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joselito Cieza to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Olayo Ustoa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gustav Siöman during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a little luck, Alianza Atletico Sullana's Raimundo Dolfo got control of the ball when Sergi Cabria tried to sneak it across the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, Alianza Atletico Sullana's Joselito Cieza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Richie Hordoñez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 59 minutes, Joselito Cieza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alianza Atletico Sullana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joselito Cieza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ibon Adrian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Richie Hordoñez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Ibon Adrian managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alianza Atletico Sullana's supporters rose to their feet, but Ibon Adrian was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Richie Hordoñez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 69 minutes into the match, Olayo Ustoa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Richie Hordoñez. Tongo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Olayo Ustoa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Ibon Adrian blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Richie Hordoñez having to make a save. Ibon Adrian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richie Hordoñez having to interfere. If Olayo Ustoa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Olayo Ustoa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joselito Cieza charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joselito Cieza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 83rd match minute, Alianza Atletico Sullana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joselito Cieza to maneuver through the defense. Richie Hordoñez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ibon Adrian in the 87th minute of the match. When Pepe Pépin fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alianza Atletico Sullana's protests and gave Pepe Pépin a yellow card for diving instead. After 92 played minutes Alianza Atletico Sullana got a freekick which was hit by Pepe Pépin. Pepe Pépin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Richie Hordoñez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Alianza Atletico Sullana fully deserved thier win.
