When Criban Velasco came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the CD Kuchints fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Criban Velasco couldn't finish the play. After 20 minutes, Xzavion Soterraña mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guayaquil City and the CD Kuchints players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 20 played minutes Guayaquil City got a freekick which was hit by Xzavion Soterraña. Dani Sendin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Criban Velasco in the 25th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Macías Vinuesa got free with Gonzalo Zorita in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Macías Vinuesa in the 28th minute of play forced CD Kuchints's goalkeeper Gonzalo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Macías Vinuesa got free with Gonzalo Zorita in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Guayaquil City booed when CD Kuchints was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolas Antoñano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Macías Vinuesa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Gonzalo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guayaquil City's Dani Sendin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro Pereda in the 45th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

During the 60th minute of the match Xzavion Soterraña completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Xzavion Soterraña a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of CD Kuchints booed when Guayaquil City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xzavion Soterraña didn't get a good kick on the ball.
