After a rather tough play, CD Cuenca's Waldemar Adamski got a free kick in the 18th minute. 25 minutes into the match, CD Cuenca's goal looked a bit too open when Alarcón Zamorano came free, but Batista Alaña reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alarcón Zamorano took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Batista Alaña. Batista Alaña dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xzavaier Guarnizo in the 40th minute of play forced CD Cuenca's goalkeeper Batista Alaña to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Rosario Huerga came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the CD Cuenca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rosario Huerga couldn't finish the play. Frutos Mendoza blasted a shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alexandro Gutarrate having to make a save. With an all-out effort, CD Cuenca's Alexandro Gutarrate threw himself towards the right post 48 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Frutos Mendoza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alarcón Zamorano was the one to do the kick off. CD Yacuambi's Alarcón Zamorano got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calderón Comillas in the 59th minute of play forced CD Cuenca's goalkeeper Batista Alaña to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 64 in the game by Xzavaier Guarnizo from a close distance when the talented Batista Alaña managed to make a qualified save. CD Cuenca's players were relieved. Adrianinho Varela's late challenge caught a CD Yacuambi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adrianinho Varela helped the player get up and apologised. Adrianinho Varela kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Batista Alaña was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alarcón Zamorano showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 68 minute of play. In the 72nd match minute, CD Cuenca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viteri Carredano to maneuver through the defense. Alexandro Gutarrate stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rosario Huerga's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. After a rather tough play, CD Yacuambi's Alfonso Nuevo got a free kick in the 78th minute. CD Cuenca's Waldemar Adamski quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Rubio Santisso, made in the 79th minute of the game. Waldemar Adamski struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Alexandro Gutarrate didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CD Cuenca. Alexandro Gutarrate showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frutos Mendoza in the 81st minute of the match. Batista Alaña made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alarcón Zamorano in the 85th minute of play. Batista Alaña came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by CD Yacuambi's Zayvion Millon. But to his dismay, Zayvion Millon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. The supporters of CD Cuenca booed when CD Yacuambi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arévalo Ansures didn't get a good kick on the ball. CD Yacuambi played a much better game than CD Cuenca and deserved their victory. The CD Cuenca players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
