When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Arboleda Marcha sped through Guayaquil S.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Xalvador Rodas. 11 minutes into the match, Guayaquil S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Arboleda Marcha came free, but Xalvador Rodas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xalvador Rodas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gómez Pedraja, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Javilla were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Guayaquil S.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mario Vegas took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Guayaquil S.C.'s goalie and right to Urtzi Villayres. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Guayaquil S.C.'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Guayaquil S.C.'s Xalvador Rodas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Estevez Lira in the 22nd minute of play. Xalvador Rodas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arboleda Marcha in the 24th minute of play. 28 minutes into the game, Xavier Villalambrus was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guayaquil S.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Javilla the free kick. In the 29th match minute, Guayaquil S.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xavier Villalambrus to maneuver through the defense. Mario Vegas took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Xalvador Rodas. Guayaquil S.C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Guayaquil S.C.'s Xalvador Rodas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arboleda Marcha in the 31st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Guayaquil S.C.'s Christian Albizuri got a free kick in the 32nd minute. 37 minutes into the game, Javilla's Arboleda Marcha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Xalvador Rodas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 42nd minute, Arboleda Marcha made a precise shot to the right of Xalvador Rodas. Guayaquil S.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Gerardo Arripe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rolando Peramato in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rolando Peramato made a kick off. After 51 played minutes Javilla got a freekick which was hit by Venceslao Arroniz. Rolando Peramato took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gerardo Arripe. Gerardo Arripe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. 58 minutes into the match, Javilla's goal looked a bit too open when Rolando Peramato came free, but Gerardo Arripe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Javilla's Xalvador Rodas threw himself towards the right post 64 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Arboleda Marcha, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gerardo Arripe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rolando Peramato, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 70 minutes into the match, Guayaquil S.C.'s goalkeeper Xalvador Rodas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gómez Pedraja. The crowd rose to their feet as Arboleda Marcha kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Xalvador Rodas. That made the score 1-4 in the 72 minute of play. Gerardo Arripe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rolando Peramato went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. 84 minutes into the game, Javilla's Estevez Lira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Xalvador Rodas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-5. Urdaspal Aviñante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 92nd minute Arboleda Marcha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xalvador Rodas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Javilla booed when Guayaquil S.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Albizuri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Javilla's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
