Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martín Mandrak in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Baldomiro Sugoi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wellington Ardines came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Aries F.C.'s Jorge Jesco. But to his dismay, Jorge Jesco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The supporters of Club Sport Emelec booed when Aries F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andres Galdia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leif Helander was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 14th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Roque Lasarte's late challenge caught a Club Sport Emelec's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roque Lasarte helped the player get up and apologised. Roque Lasarte hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Club Sport Emelec's Martín Mandrak got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Aries F.C.'s Arévalo Armoña got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Baldomiro Sugoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martín Mandrak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th minute, Isaac Laboy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Aries F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Aries F.C.'s goalkeeper Baldomiro Sugoi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Baldomiro Sugoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martín Mandrak in the 33rd minute of the match. Jorge Jesco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wellington Ardines didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Isaac Laboy went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. The supporters of Club Sport Emelec booed when Aries F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnoldo Irastorza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Club Sport Emelec's Leif Helander tried to score from far away in the 45th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 48 minutes into the match, Club Sport Emelec's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Jesco came free, but Wellington Ardines reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Broberg to make the kick off. Jorge Jesco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 54th minute, Club Sport Emelec's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Isaac Laboy fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Isaac Laboy was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 57th minute. Aries F.C.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Wellington Ardines made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roque Lasarte in the 61st minute. Baldomiro Sugoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martín Mandrak in the 64th minute of the match. 65 minutes into the match, Isaac Laboy dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Wellington Ardines, 0-4. Wellington Ardines showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roque Lasarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Jesco in the 74th minute of play forced Club Sport Emelec's goalkeeper Wellington Ardines to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Aries F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Marty came free, but Baldomiro Sugoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Baldomiro Sugoi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gomez Romeo's late challenge caught a Aries F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gomez Romeo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 96th match minute, Club Sport Emelec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gomez Romeo to maneuver through the defense. Aries F.C. played a much better game than Club Sport Emelec and deserved their victory. The Club Sport Emelec players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
