With an extended leg and a bit of luck Grueso Armental prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 16th minute, Esterilla Busta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 18th minute Éric Cantona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Grueso Armental saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grueso Armental took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Éric Cantona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sebastian Hellkvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Veremundo Buyeres, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Humberto Barragan ran back to his position shaking his head. Grueso Armental made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Humberto Barragan sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Miguir's Grueso Armental got control of the ball when Jörn Svartengren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jörn Svartengren struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Grueso Armental didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter de Guayaquil FC. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Inter de Guayaquil FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
