The audience thought a goal was coming when Sol Tucker got free with DeAndre MacKenzie in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Charlotte Hornets's Asher Trotter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darin Yeats in the 8th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Charlotte Hornets's goal looked a bit too open when Greg Randle came free, but Asher Trotter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Omurtag Savkov in the 21st minute of play forced Charlotte Hornets's goalkeeper Asher Trotter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Greg Randle had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Asher Trotter. Charlotte Hornets's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Greg Randle was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Zack McMullen charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zack McMullen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Zack McMullen hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Sol Tucker's late challenge caught a Djurgardens IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sol Tucker helped the player get up and apologised. In the 34th minute, Sol Tucker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Asher Trotter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greg Randle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the match, Djurgardens IF's goalkeeper DeAndre MacKenzie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sol Tucker. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Omurtag Savkov made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Greg Randle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Djurgardens IF's supporters rose to their feet, but Greg Randle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Asher Trotter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wiley Whitlock during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 56th match minute, Charlotte Hornets was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wiley Whitlock to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Mohammad Fitzpatrick took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Asher Trotter to make any attempt to save it. Omurtag Savkov struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Asher Trotter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Djurgardens IF. In the 67th minute Brad Womack shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but DeAndre MacKenzie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Greg Randle took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Asher Trotter to make any attempt to save it. DeAndre MacKenzie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zack McMullen, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. In the 84th minute, Sol Tucker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Charlotte Hornets fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. With a little luck, Charlotte Hornets's Asher Trotter got control of the ball when Greg Randle tried to sneak it across the goal line. Zack McMullen was shown his second yellow card after 90 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 91 played minutes Charlotte Hornets got a freekick which was hit by Zack McMullen. Djurgardens IF's Nicky Warner was substituted for Omurtag Savkov. After having played for 94 minutes, Nicky Warner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Djurgardens IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicky Warner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute, Brad Womack made a precise shot to the right of DeAndre MacKenzie. Djurgardens IF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3.
