After a rather tough play, Perth Saints's Giovanni Kent got a free kick in the 18th minute. Jose Walls took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Phillip Spicer. Phillip Spicer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Xavier Manley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phillip Spicer having to interfere. Phillip Spicer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xavier Manley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Blair Littlejohn hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Phillip Spicer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roscoe Becker went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. The Atlanta United FC fans' excitement grew in the 77th match minute when Atlanta United FC's Jose Walls looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Xavier Manley struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Phillip Spicer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlanta United FC. If Jose Walls had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xavier Manley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Phillip Spicer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Jose Walls recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jose Walls received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Phillip Spicer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Atlanta United FC's Xavier Manley got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
