Joey Bauer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kraig Lozano in the 13th minute of play. Jasper Wade's late challenge caught a Atletico Madrid's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jasper Wade helped the player get up and apologised. In the 14th minute, Jasper Wade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sagamore AFC's Joey Bauer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luke Fields in the 17th minute of play. Dale Lord received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Russ Penn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Sagamore AFC getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Leon Childs hit a great ball. Jasper Wade was shown his second yellow card after 38 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
