Everett De La Cruz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Abrams having to interfere. 16 minutes into the match, Kaunakakai FC's goal looked a bit too open when Everett De La Cruz came free, but Bill Abrams reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Pacific Grove's goal looked a bit too open when Kristopher Huffman came free, but Tobias Renteria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tony Storr's late challenge caught a Pacific Grove's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tony Storr helped the player get up and apologised. The referee gave Pacific Grove a penalty, 45 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Otto Dumas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Kaunakakai FC's Bill Abrams. 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Everett De La Cruz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Kristopher Huffman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
