In the 8th minute, one of Preston FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Preston FC. Drew Page had in the 9thth minute some difficulties stopping Sandy Burton's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. South Santa Rosa's Steven Stallings played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moses Connell in the 10th minute of play. Steven Stallings took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brendon Barbour, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute, Brendon Barbour ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Steven Stallings was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Steven Stallings made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neal Fulton in the 17th minute of play. If Brendon Barbour had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. Preston FC's Drew Page played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Houston Vickers in the 29th minute of play. With a little luck, Preston FC's Drew Page got control of the ball when Houston Vickers tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Houston Vickers managed to get in a good position for a shot. South Santa Rosa's supporters rose to their feet, but Houston Vickers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Drew Page breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Moses Connell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brendon Barbour in the 42nd minute of play forced South Santa Rosa's goalkeeper Steven Stallings to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Brendon Barbour had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Steven Stallings showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Neal Fulton, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Houston Vickers stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Preston FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Mitch Cardenas hit a great ball. Houston Vickers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Page having to interfere. After 59 played minutes Preston FC got a freekick which was hit by Moses Connell. Drew Page showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sandy Burton, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Neal Fulton could shoot a difficult shot in the 86th minute, which Steven Stallings however easily saved by the left post. If Brendon Barbour had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91st minute Brendon Barbour shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steven Stallings saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Drew Page stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Houston Vickers's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. Boyce Richards received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Drew Page tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
