Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Wendell Bowles started the match with the kick off. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Blaine's goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 14th minute, Owen Alford ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Olin Carlson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Tim Bassett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Roberto Sanchez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brett Benitez kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Kasey Holden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roberto Sanchez having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kasey Holden in the 26th minute of play forced Blaine's goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roberto Sanchez was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Kasey Holden capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kasey Holden really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. 38 minutes into the match, Blaine's goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tim Bassett. 41 minutes in the game, Kasey Holden fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Roberto Sanchez having to interfere. Tim Bassett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Roberto Sanchez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Joel Schroeder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Wendell Bowles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Blaine's Owen Alford got a good chance for a goal in the 50th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kasey Holden stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 65 minutes, Kasey Holden managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paynesville's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kasey Holden was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Tim Bassett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kasey Holden in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roberto Sanchez saved Blaine from getting behind. Olin Carlson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wendell Bowles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kasey Holden blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Roberto Sanchez having to make a save. When Paynesville's Tim Bassett in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Blaine's goalie prevented a goal. In the 83rd minute, Kasey Holden got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kasey Holden recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute of the match Foster McHugh shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roberto Sanchez showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Roberto Sanchez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tim Bassett, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute.
