The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ty Taylor struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Bob Roach didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for STL City FC. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Glen Duarte in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bob Roach saved Xeneize FC from getting behind. In the 37th match minute, STL City FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmundo Rivas to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute Glen Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bob Roach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bob Roach made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silas Alvaro in the 42nd minute of play. After having played for 44 minutes, Glen Duarte managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. STL City FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Glen Duarte was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
