STL City FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tanner Mays was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Reynaldo Sorenson might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlo Thorne. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reynaldo Sorenson ran back to his position shaking his head. After 23 played minutes Escalon got a freekick which was hit by Erik Thorpe. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wesley Carver in the 28th minute of play forced STL City FC's goalkeeper Jay Burkett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ty Taylor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlo Thorne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silas Alvaro in the 33rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Glen Duarte got free with Carlo Thorne in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. STL City FC's Jay Burkett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wesley Carver in the 42nd minute of play. Ty Taylor's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlo Thorne read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wesley Carver to strike the kick off in the second half. If Glen Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Reynaldo Sorenson managed to get in a good position for a shot. STL City FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Reynaldo Sorenson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlo Thorne breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Reynaldo Sorenson scored 1-2 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlo Thorne, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Carlo Thorne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ty Taylor, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After a rather tough play, STL City FC's Weston Edwards got a free kick in the 71st minute. A hard shot by Sol Hinkle from long distance, 72 minutes into the match, got Jay Burkett's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. STL City FC's Silas Alvaro got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Jim Pringle fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Escalon's protests and gave Jim Pringle a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Escalon getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Jim Pringle hit a great ball. In the 80th minute Silas Alvaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlo Thorne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Escalon's zone, Silas Alvaro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlo Thorne came out of the goal and Silas Alvaro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute, Reynaldo Sorenson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The STL City FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. With a little luck, STL City FC's Jay Burkett got control of the ball when Daron Bright tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Erik Thorpe reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jay Burkett. The goal made the score 2-3. Although STL City FC had been in control for most of the match, Escalon still came away with the win.
