After 29 minutes, Dane Keenan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting KC and the Connecticut FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sporting KC's Dane Keenan got a free kick in the 29th minute. Connecticut FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting KC the free kick. Martin Frederick blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dalton Osborn having to make a save. A hard shot 73 in the game by Marcellus Cross from a close distance when the talented Dalton Osborn managed to make a qualified save. Sporting KC's players were relieved. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
