The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Heroes From Yerevan's goalkeeper Kory Matlock, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kory Matlock stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kristopher Marin's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. East Moline's Charles Haskins got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Darell Biggs to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Heroes From Yerevan's goalkeeper Kory Matlock had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kristopher Marin. After taking down the ball on East Moline's corner Justin Kincaid fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Kory Matlock quite easily take care of the ball. In the 71st minute Charles Haskins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kory Matlock saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Darell Biggs came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Heroes From Yerevan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Darell Biggs couldn't finish the play. Dexter McCarthy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Ring in the 77th minute of the match.
