Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Joe Villa kicked off to start the match. Marc Allred kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. When Quinton Riggs came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Smacker fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Quinton Riggs couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joe Villa in the 20th minute of play forced Smacker's goalkeeper Jim Bassett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Joe Villa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jim Bassett was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Waylon Stroh's late challenge caught a HTX ASTRO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Waylon Stroh helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of HTX ASTRO booed when Smacker was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waylon Stroh didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caleb Lowry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jim Bassett having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Ken Tillman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st match minute, Smacker was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waylon Stroh to maneuver through the defense. Bronson Gordon was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 32nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 42nd minute of the match Alonzo Hammer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Duane Joyce skillfully saved the ball. Jim Bassett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caleb Lowry, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Joe Villa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jim Bassett having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gary Otto to strike the kick off in the second half. Jim Bassett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joe Villa in the 52nd minute of play. During the 53rd minute of the match Waylon Stroh completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Waylon Stroh a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 54th minute Caleb Lowry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jim Bassett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the game, HTX ASTRO's Joe Villa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jim Bassett made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After 64 minutes, Quinton Riggs mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Smacker and the HTX ASTRO players grew even worse after the yellow card. Caleb Lowry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jim Bassett having to interfere. Jim Bassett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caleb Lowry in the 69th minute of the match.
