Gary Otto showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Kyle Rogers's late challenge caught a Smacker's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kyle Rogers helped the player get up and apologised. Kyle Rogers hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. 20 minutes into the match, Smacker's goal looked a bit too open when Jacob Lyles came free, but Jim Bassett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute, Marc Allred hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Jacob Lyles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute Quinn Pruett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jim Bassett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacob Lyles in the 28th minute of play forced Smacker's goalkeeper Jim Bassett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute, Jacob Lyles ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jim Bassett was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Jacob Lyles struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Jim Bassett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Plantation Key. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacob Lyles in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jim Bassett saved Smacker from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Plantation Key's zone, Waylon Stroh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simon Pena came out of the goal and Waylon Stroh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Quinton Riggs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simon Pena made an important save on a dangerous shot by Quinton Riggs in the 46th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gary Otto to strike the kick off in the second half. If Kyle Rogers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quinn Pruett's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jim Bassett firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 55th match minute, Smacker was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waylon Stroh to maneuver through the defense. Jacob Lyles kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Jim Bassett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacob Lyles in the 65th minute of play. In the 68th minute, Quinn Pruett got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sergio Engel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jim Bassett read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Smacker's Gary Otto got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 87th match minute, Plantation Key was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Winston Goddard to maneuver through the defense. If Quinn Pruett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quinn Pruett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Plantation Key getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Jacob Lyles hit a great ball. Simon Pena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Quinton Riggs in the 95th minute of play. Jefferson Engle hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match.
