Carson Wilhelm came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Palo Alto's Felipe Guillory. But to his dismay, Felipe Guillory quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 20thth minute of the game Quentin Strickland who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grand Forks AFC's Carson Wilhelm was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 24 minutes, Jonas Heller mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grand Forks AFC and the Palo Alto players grew even worse after the yellow card. Palo Alto's Ramiro Doud played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ed McCloud in the 28th minute of play. Mason Minton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Ramiro Doud tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Carson Wilhelm managed to avoid a goal in the 37thth minute, when Palo Alto's Felipe Guillory fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Ed McCloud, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 39 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Ramiro Doud was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Mason Minton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramiro Doud having to interfere. Ramiro Doud showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ed McCloud in the 42nd minute of the match. Ed McCloud sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ed McCloud to strike the kick off in the second half. Ramiro Doud made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mason Minton in the 52nd minute. In the 53rdth minute of the game Ed McCloud who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palo Alto's Ramiro Doud was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mason Minton's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ramiro Doud firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ramiro Doud took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ed McCloud, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ramiro Doud made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Mason Minton sent off a good shot on target. Ed McCloud charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mason Minton got free with Ramiro Doud in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mason Minton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramiro Doud having to interfere. With a little luck, Palo Alto's Ramiro Doud got control of the ball when Mason Minton tried to sneak it across the goal line. Grand Forks AFC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
