Pittsburgh Pirates's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tad Morris was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 14th minute, Milan Bell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pittsburgh Pirates fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Daniel Sandoval blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Harry Walden having to make a save. A collision led to C. A. Ituzaingó getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Abdul Todd hit a great ball. Tad Morris struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Harry Walden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pittsburgh Pirates. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Cason Clements managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pittsburgh Pirates's supporters rose to their feet, but Cason Clements was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Harry Walden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cason Clements in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Harry Walden saved C. A. Ituzaingó from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Tad Morris managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pittsburgh Pirates's supporters rose to their feet, but Tad Morris was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucien Kerns in the 40th minute of play forced Pittsburgh Pirates's goalkeeper Tomas Yost to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dallas Elmore to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Dallas Elmore's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomas Yost was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game.
