Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Johnnie Ulrich in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hector Soto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Jerseyville's Darius Camp got a free kick in the 4th minute. Derrick Whitmore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute Stanton Roy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hector Soto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johnnie Ulrich received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Hector Soto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Jerseyville getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Everett Diaz hit a great ball. Highland Acres's Johnnie Ulrich got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Highland Acres's Stanton Roy in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Jerseyville's goalie prevented a goal. If Stanton Roy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Johnnie Ulrich came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Highland Acres fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Johnnie Ulrich couldn't finish the play. After 34 minutes of play, Jerseyville's Todd Blanco made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jeremiah Gunn was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Johnnie Ulrich during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 44 played minutes Highland Acres got a freekick which was hit by Johnnie Ulrich.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Derrick Whitmore stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jerseyville's Hector Soto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stanton Roy in the 66th minute of play. Todd Blanco scored 2-0 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jeremiah Gunn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Johnnie Ulrich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hector Soto having to interfere. In the 80th minute Darius Camp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremiah Gunn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Jerseyville's Darius Camp got a free kick in the 85th minute. Highland Acres's Kraig Espinosa suffered a concussion after 86 minutes and had to leave the field. 86 minutes into the game, Garth Guillory was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jerseyville's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Highland Acres the free kick. A collision led to Jerseyville getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Garth Guillory hit a great ball. Jerseyville's Todd Blanco got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Jerseyville fans cheered their team off the field, for while Highland Acres had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
