In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Hokie Nation's goalkeeper DeMarcus Kenny, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 40th minute Bradley Bishop shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but DeMarcus Kenny saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rodney Masters hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 42nd minute, Ignacio Carrier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Hokie Nation's zone, Jason Bloom stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. DeMarcus Kenny came out of the goal and Jason Bloom tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the match, Tupper Lake's goal looked a bit too open when Benny Foster came free, but Henrikki Sorsamäki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Benny Foster made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bradley Bishop got free with DeMarcus Kenny in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Geoff Beckman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. DeMarcus Kenny tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Tupper Lake players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Hokie Nation.
