Stephan Layton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeremiah Gunn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sherman Barnes in the 9th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Warner Colbert in the 10th minute of play forced Highland Acres's goalkeeper Jeremiah Gunn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. James Zamora made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Johnnie Ulrich sent off a good shot on target. Johnnie Ulrich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without James Zamora having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Pine Island AFC's Fred Nguyen got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Highland Acres's goalkeeper Jeremiah Gunn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sherman Barnes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeremiah Gunn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Sherman Barnes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sherman Barnes in the 29th minute of play forced Highland Acres's goalkeeper Jeremiah Gunn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute of the match Pine Island AFC got a corner. Highland Acres's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sherman Barnes ran over to the corner to take the kick. Pine Island AFC were awarded a corner in the 32th minute after Highland Acres's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sherman Barnes took the corner. In the 35th minute, Sherman Barnes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jeremiah Gunn was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Highland Acres's goalkeeper Jeremiah Gunn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Brendon Ponce struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Jeremiah Gunn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pine Island AFC. In the 44th minute Warner Colbert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremiah Gunn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brendon Ponce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Jeremiah Gunn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Sherman Barnes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute Johnnie Ulrich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but James Zamora saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johnnie Ulrich recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Sherman Barnes could shoot a difficult shot in the 62nd minute, which Jeremiah Gunn however easily saved by the left post. James Zamora took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stanton Roy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sherman Barnes kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. James Zamora made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stanton Roy in the 69th minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, Highland Acres's goalkeeper Jeremiah Gunn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sherman Barnes. After having played for 81 minutes, Stanton Roy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Highland Acres's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stanton Roy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Warner Colbert's late challenge caught a Highland Acres's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Warner Colbert helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Pine Island AFC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Warner Colbert hit a great ball. Sherman Barnes might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jeremiah Gunn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sherman Barnes ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Highland Acres's zone, Brendon Ponce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremiah Gunn came out of the goal and Brendon Ponce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeremiah Gunn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sherman Barnes in the 95th minute.
