Boyd McCrackens short, quick shot in the 3rdth minute got James Zamora to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. James Zamora showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benny Foster in the 7th minute of the match. In the 8th minute, Sherman Barnes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pine Island AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 14 minutes into the game, Pine Island AFC's Brendon Ponce nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. DeMarcus Kenny made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 17th minute, Sherman Barnes made a precise shot to the right of DeMarcus Kenny. Hokie Nation's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Pine Island AFC's Sherman Barnes got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Sherman Barnes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hokie Nation's DeMarcus Kenny played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sherman Barnes in the 26th minute of play. After 31 played minutes Pine Island AFC got a freekick which was hit by Forrest Whitlock. 33 minutes into the match, Pine Island AFC's goalkeeper James Zamora had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Boyd McCracken. When Benny Foster came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Hokie Nation fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benny Foster couldn't finish the play. DeMarcus Kenny stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Warner Colbert's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. 44 minutes into the match, Boyd McCracken had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of James Zamora. Pine Island AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Boyd McCracken was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Benny Foster sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sherman Barnes to make the kick off. Sherman Barnes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. DeMarcus Kenny came out and tried to block the shot, but Sherman Barnes slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 52nd minute. Sherman Barnes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. DeMarcus Kenny tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Rodney Masters in the 65th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Pine Island AFC's Brendon Ponce. Ignacio Carrier charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ignacio Carrier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Pine Island AFC booed when Hokie Nation was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ignacio Carrier didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Ignacio Carrier was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 79 minutes had been played. Ignacio Carrier kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Sherman Barnes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving DeMarcus Kenny. That made the score 1-5 in the 82 minute of play. Sherman Barnes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but DeMarcus Kenny made a huge save. When Romeo Stewart fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hokie Nation's protests and gave Romeo Stewart a yellow card for diving instead. Romeo Stewart kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Stephan Layton charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stephan Layton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pine Island AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 87th minute. Penalty! James Zamora had in the 89thth minute some difficulties stopping Blaine Rafferty's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 91st minute, Sherman Barnes made a precise shot to the right of DeMarcus Kenny. Hokie Nation's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-6. Monty Eddy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
