Blakes AC's Benedict Chin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frankie Rubin in the 27th minute of play. Kenny Dalton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Antony Peck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antony Peck acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 48th minute, took the ball on the long shot from J.C. Cartwright. After the first half Carmel Valley Village AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Antony Peck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 96th minute Lance Kilgore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antony Peck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
