Westbrook FC's David Barnes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Saldana in the 2nd minute of play. Olin Chang took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised David Barnes. David Barnes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Gustavo Saldana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 12th minute by Olin Chang got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 14 minutes, Colin Milligan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hayward and the Westbrook FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Hayward's Colin Milligan got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 17th minute, Garry Bellamy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 19 minutes into the match, Garry Bellamy notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Hayward's Van Goodrich. Van Goodrich was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sergio Arellano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sergio Arellano's late challenge caught a Hayward's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sergio Arellano helped the player get up and apologised. Olin Chang kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. David Barnes made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Gustavo Saldana sent off a good shot on target. In the 38th minute, Vito Cohen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Hayward's Wallace Dawson got a free kick in the 41st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Silver in the 42nd minute of play forced Hayward's goalkeeper Van Goodrich to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Hayward booed when Westbrook FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garry Bellamy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 46 played minutes Westbrook FC got a freekick which was hit by Garry Bellamy. After 47 played minutes, Hayward's Jayson Nielsen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper David Barnes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hayward reached it. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
Westbrook FC's Jeffrey Goldberg was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 54th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. 59 minutes in the game Palmer Byrne did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Colin Milligan. Gustavo Saldana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. David Barnes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 74 minutes of play, Hayward's Olin Chang made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. David Barnes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gustavo Saldana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Barnes having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Olin Chang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Westbrook FC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Hayward to leave the ground with a draw.
